Bryce Lewis-Smith (Citizen Potawatomi Nation) is an environmental justice professional who works at the intersections of Tribal Sovereignty, public policy, conservation sciences and community engagement. He approaches complicated issues of environmental justice, climate change, and land management using Indigenous methodologies.

Before joining better world group, Bryce pursued an interdisciplinary education at the University of Washington where he earned a Master of Marine Affairs and a Graduate Certificate in Indigenous Studies. While in school, Bryce worked for sʔilwiɫ (the Center for American Indian and Indigenous Scholars) and researched environmental reciprocity and place-based responsibility.

As a member of the California Climate Action Corps pilot program, Bryce worked with his host site, City Plants, to develop an equitable, bilingual urban forestry and community organizing program for residents from low-canopy and urban heat vulnerable regions of Los Angeles. The Tree Ambassador Program empowered and funded local community partners to advocate for the climate resiliency and forestry needs of their neighborhoods.

Outside of Better World Group, Bryce is a member of the Citizen Potawatomi Dreaming Council, a collective of Anishinaabe leaders reimaging our relationship to our ancestral homelands.

He enjoys berry picking with friends, trying new foods, and reading on the beach.
