Our Team / Maya Iñigo-Anderson
Maya brings more than 10 years of policy advocacy, environmental justice and labor experience to BWG.
Maya works on projects related to sustainable transportation and climate, with a focus on equity and economic opportunity. Maya recently served as the California Charge Ahead Coordinator for two years. During Maya’s time as coordinator, Charge Ahead advocated clean and equitable transportation policy at both the legislative and regulatory level. One major accomplishment of Charge Ahead during that time was helping shape amendment language for AB 126 (Reyes), as well as program language for one the CA Transportation Commission’s largest programs, with a focus on zero emission vehicles, health benefits and equity. In this capacity, was housed at Communities for a Better Environment, a state-wide environmental justice organization working on climate, energy and transportation campaigns that center the needs and the leadership of environmental justice community residents. Maya previously conducted research on public transit in collaboration with UC Davis’ Institute of Transportation as a Senior Fellow and worked with labor unions to win equitable environmental justice policies. Maya has worked with the LA Alliance for a New Economy and UNITE HERE, among other economic justice organizations. When working as a Senior organizer at LAANE, in collaboration with UNITE HERE, Maya helped pass Los Angeles’ landmark LAX Corridor Living Wage Ordinance. Maya has a keen interest in building sustainable communities with clean transportation options, accessible green spaces and high-road jobs. Maya holds a Masters of Social Welfare with a focus on Public Policy from the University of California at Berkeley
