Meghan Sahli-Wells provides strategic guidance on environmental justice, mobility and democracy work for the Better World Group. With deep political insights and a record of groundbreaking climate wins, she brings a wealth of progressive policy-making experience to the team.
In her previous role as state director of the environmental non-profit Elected Officials to Protect America, Meghan mobilized elected officials to pass ambitious climate policies throughout California. A former consultant and Environmental Justice Specialist for Supervisor Holly Mitchell, she helped craft policies to phase out fossil fuel extraction and expand equitable sustainability strategies in Los Angeles County. As Mayor and Councilmember of Culver City, she successfully stopped local oil drilling and transitioned the city to 100% renewable energy, championed tenant’s rights, housing, government transparency, racial justice, immigrant rights, water conservation, mobility, and more.
Meghan earned two bachelor’s degrees from UCLA in World Arts and Cultures and in French (cum laude). She also holds a graduate certificate in Leadership Practices in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion from Claremont Lincoln University. She lived many years in France studying visual anthropology, working as a translator and raising her children. She is a founding Board Director of Local Progress and is serving her second term on the National Sierra Club Board.
